Zoom to level 10+ over an area, then Analyze. Gold parcels = open ground: no active claim, but a recorded occurrence. MRDS = documented deposits; USMIN = physical workings (adits, shafts, prospect pits). Surface land status + withdrawn lands (wilderness, WSA, monuments) let you screen for locatable ground. Commodity focus filters MRDS; USMIN feature types narrow which workings count (empty = all). Filters take effect on the next Analyze. Sweep view (tiled) covers a larger area — zoom out to a district and sweep, then export CSV or KMZ. Closed claims (dashed violet) show ground staked before — prior interest, open unless re-staked. Recently staked claims (orange) show where stakers are moving now. Bedrock geology overlays USGS SGMC rock units. Targets are ranked 0–100 by evidence (hover the score badge for the breakdown; load closed claims before analyzing to count prior staking). Tap ⚒ on any target to tile it with 600×1500 ft lode-claim rectangles and export corner coordinates for staking.

Open Ground finds unclaimed ground with documented mineral occurrences — parcels where the USGS records a deposit but no active BLM claim covers it.

Frame an area. Zoom to level 10+ over a district, or use the search box / 🎲 Find random open ground button to jump somewhere promising.

Run “Analyze this view.” Gold-glowing parcels are open ground. Use Sweep view (tiled) to cover a whole district at once.

Review targets. Results appear in the right panel, ranked by evidence score — tap a target to fly to it, and tap the ★ to save it to your Shortlist.

Refine & export. Filter by commodity or land status in the left panel, then export targets as KMZ, CSV, or a printable sheet.

This software is still in beta testing. Data comes from live BLM and USGS services and may be incomplete or out of date — always verify land status with the BLM and county records before staking a claim.
